Christine,
I could put myself on Church Street or at Deer Lake when reading your essay. What a nice descriptive piece.
Keep up the hard work towards your acting career.

Carol Miscia

Christine, I am also a "Jersey/Montclair Girl" whose grandparents and parents settled in this state to start a new life. I too have those fond memories/friendships of my youth that you depict. Good luck with the contest.

Christine: We loved your essay. When we chose Montclair in 1986 as the town in which to raise our children, we wanted a community that we could not possibly describe as well as you have. New Jersey and, Montclair in particular, have enriched our lives in so many ways. Thank you for capturing our thoughts in your essay. Well done, neighbor! Susan and Larry Jones, Montclair, NJ

Christine, I really thought your essay was well written and applied to many people's background. It was quite amazing what your family went through this much in order to come to New Jersey. I cannot believe that your grandmother managed to go to Montclair University.

Christine:

Your essay is a lovely piece. I truly enjoyed how you showed that your grandparents took a leap of faith by leaving their country and coming to NJ. As you grow up, you also will have the opportunity to take leaps of faith in following your dreams of acting. Your essay vividly describes the sights and sounds of Montclair and of some of the prettiest parts of New Jersey. Well done! Congratulations!

Diana Clark

Christine:
Beautifully written and expressed showing a breadth of interests. Your parents have obviously been inspirational in your journey and I especially like how you have been inspired to work harder through your acting classes. However, I was surprised you didn't mention St. John's because you and your family have been such active members here.

An amazing essay! You bring it all together - your heritage, your dreams, your love of this state! The best to you in your career - break-a-leg!

Casey Fieldman

You did a very good job on this essay. I love the way you portrayed New Jersey as a place of opportunity and diversity. I too share your love for the small shops on Church Street, and i actually work at Gimme Jimmies. I thought you described the breezy summer afternoon very accurately and with great detail. In my opinion you should definitely win this contest, your essay is very deserving.

Maria Perez

This is a great essay. Reading it made me reflect on my own experiences on coming to this country and the wonderful and big things our little state has to offer. I think Christine's essay truly reflects the essence of what New Jersey is about, no matter what town you live in. Good job!!

Hey Christine,

This is an amazing essay i like how you compared it to your real life and how you gave very specific details on your daily life, nice job, keep it up

for me it is most important that the writer becomes a vehicle that transports me to the state, pun intended, (physically and emotionally) that she is in. for us you did that. Bravo!

I really enjoyed this essay, especially its description of Church Street, which happens to be my favorite street in Montclair. And Christine is right; when you drive up to Deer Lake you do feel like you're on another planet. But, of course, it's New Jersey, which is Christine's point.

Linda Ormont

This essay captures the dreamy quality of childhood memories. Christine Lavosky clearly enjoys growing up in New Jersey, and she does a great job of sharing that with us.

alana schreiber

Julie Schreiber

Christine's essay is the greatest I've ever read! It was so touching. It showed how great New Jersey can really be. Congratulations, Christine on your great essay! You should totally beat out Travis Weiss and Bethany Lipman!

Tiana Brimsley

I was absolutly enchanted by Christine's essay. It was full of rich metaphors and I really fealt like I was with her when she described being at Church Street and Deer Lake. Magnificent job!

Great Essay Christine. Keep up the good work!

Ann Thornhill

It was evident in Christine's essay that she is aware of her family's history and that New Jersey has played an important part in fulfilling the dreams of her mother and those of her grandparents.

John Wilson

My favorite parts are when Christine uses visual language to show the reader, from her own view, not just what she enjoys and why, but how she perceives it.

Cassandra Iton

OMG amazing essay Chrisine i know what you mean. I love New Jersey too and its way better than any other place on earth. This essay is really really good and you should deffinately get some kind of award for it. Keep up the good work girl. Follow your passions.

Fantastic essay, and I'm not just saying that because your mom's my teacher. This essay made me laugh, made me cry, and made me feel every emotion in between. It broke my heart then repaired it. This is, simply put, the greatest essay ever written and your name should go down in history among the greats like Shakespeare, Robert Frost, and J.K. Rowling.

Yda Zamora

This is a beautiful essay Christine. It was really good to start off with your personal background and explain how you came to be in NJ, it shows your conection to the state as a whole. I loved your description of an avarage day in Montclair and was able to visualize myself walking down Church st. Overall, I think you really got the essence of what it's like to live in NJ and made it available for everybody to feel. Great job!
